Bio

Hi! My name is Paige and I am originally from Montana but have lived in NorCal for 10 years. I graduated from UC Davis with my B.S. in Human Development in 2023 and have worked with the HEAL Lab for three years now. I am a ReACH Equity Fellow with the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing where I research how community-based interventions, like home visiting programs, can be used to improve health outcomes, connections between service utilizers and providers, and reduce the intergenerational transmission of trauma. Throughout my doctorate I aim to investigate how often connections are made between participants and service providers and how different dissemination strategies work to increase uptake of the program. Additionally, I would like to understand how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) influence health behaviors in different communities by looking at the moderating role of race, ethnicity, and culture. I hope to investigate characteristics within different communities which buffer them against adversity by using community-based, diverse methodologies including interviews and focus groups. For example, are there resilience factors or buffers relevant to certain communities that have not been investigated in prior research? How can strengths-based interventions be better informed by this research? I would like to continue learning how to present data, communicate, and work alongside community partners and policy makers. By incorporating methodologies from developmental science, translational research, and public health, I would like to learn how to co-develop trauma-informed, culturally competent interventions.
