Bio
Andrea Navarro Macias is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Human Development Graduate Group at UC Davis. She earned dual B.A. degrees in Psychology (with highest honors) and Chicana/o Studies from UC Davis in June 2026. As an undergraduate, Andrea participated in several research and academic programs that shaped her scholarly interests and research experience. She worked in the Personality, Identity, Narratives, and Experiences in Society (PINES) Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Westberg and co-authored the article,“Examining How Racial/Ethnic Challenges Are Narrated in Relation to Racial/Ethnic Identity.” She was also a participant in the UC Davis McNair Scholars Program, served as a Research Assistant in the Cognition in Context Lab, and worked as a Learning Assistant for PSC 1Y with Dr. Steve Luck. Andrea's research focuses on Latinx youth and adolescent populations, with a particular interest in understanding how culture influences identity development, lived experiences, socio-emotional well-being, and academic outcomes.
