As a PhD Student in the Department of Communication, my research interests have always been primarily grounded in Communication theories, specifically theories related to family communication, family functioning, and parent-child relationships. My research seeks to examine how the media impacts children and adolescents in unique ways as a consequence of their individual family background/structure.
It is difficult to examine children and adolescents without a keen understanding of child development. As a MS Student in Child Development, I seek to understand how the cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional development of children impacts their media choices and how they are influenced by the media.
